Hebburn, BBC Two

First episodes are tricky beasts, they start cold
& take a good long while to come to heat,
& this, ah this, brings ‘Gavin & Stacey’
Down on its head quite hard, with its old
Culture-clash saw - although the girl from York
Strikes me as a less effectively distant
Than Wales to Billericay’s insistent
Axis, a straight relatively northern joke.
That said, things bode for difference,
Mortality’s chimes strike through, McKee
& Moir more than Ramsey & Nixon
The ones to watch for single-camera sense.
Note heart conditions. I offer no guarantee,
But this may be one to keep keeping on.
