Impressive State of the Nation novel
This than Sebastian Faulk’s Week-long effort.
A remarkably similar cast, though lacking
The likeably awful critic, any thought,
Character, cut-out truly live & breathing.
What galls most of all: that though the pun
Of the title plays on London, homes, Marx,
Editor or author have decided we’re dumb
& for commercial gain drop intellectual heart.
For all its excellent journalism,
There are deeper truths in deeper fictions.
