White Heat, BBC Two

It’s that bloody split time theme again,

More or less, this time flash-forwarding

To a range of Poliakoff-ey talents pondering

Their sixties student residence; what a pain,

& as for forty minutes the present day

Is forgotten, particularly pointless.

The sixties stuff is rather gorgeous,

If waypoint happy, a little lightweight.

I know this isn’t a perfect example,

But frame narrative aside, three hours

Or so pass before Jacobi’s Claudius

Appears, requiring patience, but preferable

To this chopped-up epilogue. We’d devour

A last ep. thesp flip. You underestimate us.
